A trace of yesterday
lays upon the brow
of a gray haired woman
in a too-big SUV.
She strains in the bright sunlight
reaching for communication
avoiding complication.
She's lost along her own track
gripping the wheel,
no way to turn back.
I watch her shift the weight
between her eyes,
realize it's tomorrow,
before today.
A sorrow clouds my mind
as I know it's time
soon you'll be on your way.
The big city, an urban playground
where potential turns out
prophets, and locusts,
the artist awakened.
Your the great mind in my life
and I'm squinting in the sunlight
thinking I caught a glimpse of you.
My minds un-weaving with the seasons,
it's another new beginning
without you.
So I sigh and unearth
the words I fell into so long ago.
Remember the boy
while staring at the man with the guitar
and the beautiful voice
reverberates through me.
I remember you
Hoping you'll remember me
in your reverie
you were once my everything and now...
Now, you're becoming the great mind
I've always known this world can't do without.
You were my beautiful creature
shackled to the earth
but in this time and place
I know you're no longer trapped
you've found your door
now walk on through.
You're becoming everything
I've always seen in you.
The gray haired woman
let's off the brake
and I'm off and running
never forgetting.
Happy Birthday!
My J squared

It's beautifully tragic...remember her hand in mine and feel the essence of this once living breathing being...soar
